According to RMC, Pascal Deprah didn't understand why the French international would give up "such an important trophy" after Mendy auctioned off his 2018 World Cup medal.

To Depra, this was completely incomprehensible. "He can do whatever he wants. But you win the World Cup, you have a replica trophy, and you sell it? Such a strong aversion to such an important trophy... How many French players have won the World Cup? Only 46 in two World Cups. This is absolutely the last thing I would sell," he continued.
"I don't think I'll display the trophy at home."
However, Pascal DePra also admitted one thing: "If I had won the World Cup, I don't think I would have kept the trophy at home. I would have kept it in my office. That would be too 'showy'."
After achieving some success in his coaching or playing career, this Upper Savoie native has kept a few precious items to reminisce about those moments. "I'm not a materialist, but I am a sentimentalist. I keep my first jersey from my time with the French youth team. But it's not displayed; it's kept hidden away. Occasionally, I open the memory box, and it reminds me of the wonderful moments I experienced back then."
The same goes for the trophies he won with Evian-Thonon-Guyal, whether in the National League or Ligue 2. "I also keep the French championship trophies I won with ETG. But I don't display them because I feel they belong to me, and I'm proud of them. When I go home, I need to see photos of my family, not trophies," he concluded.
