In an interview in Hong Kong, Harto said he expects to make a difference under Alonso in the new season.
Around 10 a.m. Beijing time, the team's hotel lounge was bustling with activity. The sound of ping-pong balls hitting the table echoed in the room as Marcos Palestella played PlayStation while chatting and laughing with his teammates.
Shortly after, Harto walked in, came to the table, and waved to greet them. He was there to talk about his life on the tour and his goals for the new season.
What was originally planned as a "relaxed 5-minute chat" turned into a 15-minute in-depth discussion. Jato was determined to make an impression during Alonso's season in charge.
The Dutch player believes his versatility will be an advantage. Having played center-back, left-back, and wing-back during his time at Chelsea, and even tucked into midfield, the tactical flexibility shown by Alonso during his coaching career has convinced the number 21 player that he could be a valuable piece of the Spanish coach's puzzle.
After joining Chelsea from Ajax in the summer of 2025, Harto took some time to adapt to his new environment, but he gained regular playing time in the second half of last season and hopes to continue doing so this season.
Just as a ping-pong ball flew past Josh Achampong and landed at our feet, Hatto explained that he had no regrets about his first season at Stamford Bridge. João Pedro raised his hand in apology, and Hatto returned the ball to its original position.
The Dutch player, glancing at the ping-pong table a few yards away, said, "I've been very happy at Chelsea. Although I didn't play much at the beginning of the season, I've never regretted it. I know joining Chelsea was the right decision."

Hatto's performance in the warm-up matches was impressive; he played both left-back and left center-back.
He is willing to play in any position where he is needed and believes that he can be an asset to Alonso no matter what formation the team adopts.
The Dutch international added: "I think it will definitely help. We know the coach's thinking is very flexible, and as a team, we are too. Whether we play with a four-man or a three-man defense, I have a role to play because I can play center-back and left-back."
"I've also played midfield, and I like to tuck in and participate in the team's play, so I think I can offer the manager a good option."
“But for me, it’s not that important. I’m happy to play whenever the team needs me. Every time I wear a Chelsea shirt, I give it my all.”
