Voznia: Deep down, I've always felt like a player from a big club.

Vozinha expressed his gratitude at his first press conference as a Colo-Colo player. The Cape Verdean goalkeeper thanked the people who warmly welcomed him upon his arrival in Chile on Monday: "I didn't expect this. I must thank all the fans."

The 40-year-old goalkeeper admitted that he had reached the pinnacle of his career in the past few weeks: "It was the best thing that I've ever experienced in my football career, but that's in the past. Playing for Colo-Colo was the best moment of my club career."

“I became a professional player at the age of 25. In my country, opportunities are scarce, almost nonexistent. I hope that after the World Cup, Cape Verde will be viewed differently, giving the children there more opportunities, not just in football.”

For the 40-year-old goalkeeper, "there is no pressure in football." "Pressure is when you or your family are sick, or when you have nothing to eat," he emphasized.

Vozinha was only thinking about "working" and "helping" Colo-Colo. His decision to join was "very clear." "Although I've always played in smaller leagues and for smaller clubs, deep down I've always felt like a player for a big club. When Colo-Colo—Chile's biggest club—came into my life, I didn't hesitate," he reiterated.

Colo-Colo announced an agreement with Voznia about a week ago, but the arrival of the Cape Verdean international was delayed for some reason. During this period, he even had negotiations with Morocco's Belcán club.

Vozinha appeared on the field wearing a jersey bearing his name. While the Chilean Professional Football League (CFL) rules prohibit nicknames, an exception is allowed by agreement between the clubs.

Voznia thanked "all the other club presidents who voted in favor, and the league that accepted the request" for allowing him to use the nickname that made him famous. The jersey also carries a special tribute: "I thank my grandparents; if they were still alive, this would make them proud. I hope to continue to live up to the education they gave me. Using this name is a tribute. I will use it until the end of my career."

On Wednesday, Voznia will hold a new meet-and-greet event with fans at the Monumental Stadium in Santiago. Meanwhile, Colo-Colo has released a series of commemorative jerseys to celebrate the goalkeeper's arrival.
