According to Bild, Dajo shared his thoughts on Germany's World Cup exit, Klopp's coaching, and the current situation at Stuttgart.
Regarding Germany's elimination from the World Cup
“It took me about a week to completely put the World Cup behind me. I kept imagining different scenarios in my mind, thinking about why things were like this and what the reasons were. After a week, I started to focus on my vacation again because I needed to relax after a long season. Two weeks later, my physical condition hit its lowest point. After that, I slowly got back into shape.”
Speaking of the new German national team coach Klopp
“I expect a rebound under him. Every player has to prove themselves again, and there’s a different energy in the team. I have to perform to get back into the squad.”
Talking about the increasing attention he receives
"The hype was already high before the World Cup. The fans were asking me to play, and the calls were getting louder and louder. I watched videos of the fans at the games, and they were chanting my name. That made me very happy and it made me realize that I had done something right."
When asked if he would be blinded by the hype,
"To be honest, it's hard not to get carried away with this kind of hype. Luckily, I'm already 30. I've been through a period of high hype before, and then it faded away. This hype right now is particularly exaggerated. I won't become arrogant; I'll remain the same as always. But if I were only 24, the situation would likely be completely different. Now I'm considered an old hand, and I can handle this kind of hype very well."
Discussing the role of Stuttgart captain Karazor
“Ata has only had two bad months in the past three years, and has maintained a consistently high level the rest of the time. He is often criticized, but things are not black and white. Ata does a lot of things on the field that you don’t know. He leads the charge, encourages his teammates, and creates space for others. You only look at whether the pass is accurate or not, but my perspective as a player is different. Ata has done a lot of the right things, and he is an excellent player.”
Talking about potential new signings
"It doesn't matter who comes. I'll only be happy if the team gets talented players who can make the squad stronger. Two years ago, we weren't as deep as we are now. When competing on three fronts, you need three or four strikers. From what I see, we're not done in the transfer market yet."
